How to get a Prepaid Phone Plan
By blessed365
Getting started with a prepaid phone plan is very simple and easy. If you do not know who offers prepaid plans, you can read about some of the no contract plans here. First you will need to decide what cell phone company you want to go with and then purchase a phone, a plan and any accessories if you want them. You will normally pay once a month where you will have to add minutes to your mobile phone. A prepaid cell phone plan is not a contract. You will not have to stay with the company if you do not like it or if you find a better phone with another provider, you can always switch and sell your phone to someone or give it away.
Where do I go to get started with a Prepaid Plan?
With companies like ATT, T-Mobile, or Verizon, you can go directly to their stores to buy a prepaid phone and a plan, but you don't have to do that. Most prepaid phones, prepaid minutes and accessories can be purchased directly from Walmart, Best Buy, Target, Radio Shack, Sears or Kmart. Some stores will even set the phone up for you of show you how to activate it.
Activating you prepaid cell phone
If you purchased a phone at a store, you will receive instruction in the box on how to get your phone activated. Most phone can be activated online or over the phone. Be sure to buy a minutes card to get started with the service if you do not want to purchase minutes online. Airtime or mininute cards will have some type of pin number that you will use to input in the phone or give to the customer service agent if you are calling in to activate your phone. You will be given a phone number with your area code once your phone is adtivated. Many people have had complaints about calling into certain companies and not being able to understand the other person online because the calls are overseas so you may have to have a little patience when activating your phone.
What next?
You now have you new number. If you use a service like Tracfone or Net10, you will see your minutes on your phone that you have left. This is so you will know exactly what you are using. If you text a lot and talk alot, you may want to go with an unlimited plan for talking and texting.
Be sure to add minutes to your phone when they are due so you do not lose your phone number or become deactivated.
When you get tired of your prepaid cell phone or you see a better model that you like, remember you can sell or give away your phone because you are not under contract and there are some pretty cool phones out there now for prepaid cell phone customers like Android phones.
Enjoy your phone. Any questions? Feel free to ask and I will try and help as best I can.
